Seven Significant Acts of Service

As you know, I have been doing at least one good thing for someone else everyday while I am home this month. (If you don't know what I am talking about, stop and read this.) Brock has affectionately termed it Seven Significant Acts of Service for a week. He's got the "significant" part right. It's been so cool to see what the Lord has put in my lap daily. For example, I have been able to rebook someone's honeymoon the day of due to a washed passport not allowing them to go on their planned one. I have been to the doctor with someone while getting some serious blood tests done. Also, I have been able to set up a new couple's whole bed for them.

That last one was very special. On our date night, Brock and I snuck into our friends' new house while they were on their honeymoon. We'd recently purchased a new mattress, so we gave them our king sized mattress. We bought them their bedding that they had registered for and went inside and set it all up. Now, when they get home, at least their bed is going to be ready. It was fun doing all of that together at the end of our date. That is going to be a memorable date night for us.

It has been some significant stuff. The part that Brock was not right about was the "seven" a week. The Lord has been giving me 3 or 4 acts of service a day. The other day, after helping my pregnant friend move her stuff into her apartment, I thought, "These acts of service are making me tired." Actually, that only lasted a little while. Do you know how you get this burst of adrenaline when you help someone? I have had that high everyday since I began this Seven Significant Acts of Service. I wonder what the Lord has planned for this week!

I have been waiting to hear about your "Acts of Service" that you had mentioned and had been praying for you. I am so glad that you are sharing them! You are an inspiration! Glad that Brock is also a part of the mission! You are giving these recipients a "heart gift" as my pastor called it in his sermon last night! Heart Gifts are the best kind to receive--and the giver also receives a great blessing! :-)

Love Ya,
Mrs. G.
