Looking at Something from a New Perspective

The other day, it was one of those rare, warm winter days. I was reading a book on a bench under a large tree in our backyard. Normally, I lie in our hammock, but on this day at this time, the only portion of the yard that had sun pouring down was on this bench. I laid back on the bench basking in the sun. Then, I noticed something. This tree that has always been back there was enormous! I had never really looked up at it. It's branches spread out so far and the width of the branches was so wide even up really high. I gained such a new perspective on that tree by lying under it.

In elementary school, I remember thinking that the halls were very wide and I didn't like being out by myself because I might get lost. When I went back to visit that school many years after I had attended there, I was astonished by how small the hallways were. After growing physically and mentally, I had a new perspective of that school. I was viewing it through different eyes.

We are a lot like that elementary kid wondering around the halls of life asking, "Where should I go? Everything is so big!" The Lord sees the world as the older me coming back to visit. He's already conquered this life! He knows how to do that! He's a big God ready to lead us around. All that we must do is trust Him. As believers, we are able to view this world with different eyes. We have that new and great perspective in life. We know that God is so big, and to Him, life is so small. If only we could never forget to have the right perspective.
