Room in the Inn

Our church has a ministry on Monday nights where they bus in homeless people from Nashville and provide them with a good meal and a place to sleep that night. While they are sleeping, they wash their clothes for them.

Last night, it was the staff's turn to host this event. They went all out! They had a Valentine's dinner for them with chocolate, gifts, and even entertainment. Guess who was the entertainment? Brock. Also, Lindsey the Fireproof Women made her debut, and she did an excellent job!

When I came into the church last night, I was so glad to be in the warmth of the inside. Then, I thought, "What do these people do? It's so cold out there. Where do they stay?" It really broke my heart.

There was such a sweet spirit among all of the people there from the church. There was a warmth there that went beyond the physical. What an awesome ministry!

As I read your blog I am washing clothes for a similar ministry at our church. The churches in our area rotate through the winter each taking a week with these men (and then later we will have the women). It is sad to think what these men have to go through, but it is also wonderful to see christian men, women, and youth opening their hearts to them. Even our children make placemats for them and little notes for them.

I am sad that there are people who need this; however, it is our responsibility to help them.

hey girl! that is sooo neat! it's refreshing to see churches ministering to those outside the church!

and by the way, i totally agree w/ your first comment (and the other 2) on my obviously very "hot topic" regarding "vacationing and debt". it's a must, in my opinion and brian's too:):):) if we don't get away it kills us. the first year we were here at calvary, 2006, we did not take time off for us. our new pastor realized this and made us take time off in 2007. so glad he sees the importance of that!!!

So, where do they sleep? How does all that work?

They allow them to sleep outside the church on the parking lot. The first 2 guys get a choice spot on a park bench but everyone else sleeps in the grass or the back parking lot.
They have a water hose for them to get a drink of water.

Ha.
The truth is I don't know. I didn't ask

They loved him! He also gave a very clear gospel presentation. Then, the sweet lady who was running the night came up and gave an invitation. One out of the dozen men gave their life to Christ.
