Disney World

We went to Disney World for two days and Universal Studios for one day. I have to tell you that I am very tired today. Not only did we walk 17 miles, but the over-stimulation just wore me out!

After going to both parks back to back, I have to say that Disney is on another level. Do you know why? It's because of the details. For example, Universal had a big air conditioning unit sitting out on the sidewalk. You would never see that at Disney. They would disguise it in some way.

At the Magic Kingdom in Disney, they had bronze statues of the characters that looked like they had been there for years. When you looked closer, you could tell that they were seasonal. Goofy was standing on top of a jack-o-lantern. It was very subtle.

Also, at Disney everything is a show. They call the workers "cast members." Whenever my friend whom works at Disney needed to go behind the counter at our hotel, one of the other workers asked her to come "backstage." Even the hotels are a show. When we checked into the hotel, they said, "Welcome home!" When I talked with any of the cast members on the phone, they would end our conversation with, "Have a magical day!"

Don't get me wrong, Universal was fun, too! Disney has just thought of everything! Disney was also overly cautious in order to prevent lawsuits I'm sure. At our show, they had one lady who would escort us from backstage to the stage every time we needed to go. She would shine a flashlight to light our way. There were a couple of other guys along the way that would stand by a cord just to shine a flashlight on the cord every time we walked by it. That was their job. Also, there were steps and a wheelchair ramp leading up to the stage. We could only use the ramp. We also had to make sure that our volunteers only went up the ramp as well. It was funny!

Sorry that I did not make it to Night of Joy--was planning to go, but when the rain started and I checked and it was also raining at WDW, I decided that since I still have quiet a bit of congestion that I should stay home. I was really looking forward to meeting Barbara. Maybe the next time she is visiting. I am glad that you had a good time! And I agree--Disney is a class act. For personal reasons I do not do Univeral, but am up for Disney any time!

Love ya!
